Colombian native becomes third head coach in Fire history

BRIDGEVIEW, IL - Chicago Fire Soccer has appointed Juan Carlos Osorio as the third head coach in club history, Fire President/CEO John Guppy announced today. Osorio replaces Dave Sarachan, who was let go on June 20.

Osorio will be introduced to the media on Monday, when he begins official duties with the team. Interim coach Denis Hamlett will guide the Fire for Saturday's home match versus Toronto FC (7:35 p.m. CT).

Osorio, 46, recently led Colombian side Millonarios to a fourth-place finish and a berth in Copa Sudamericana. He also spent two seasons (2000-01) in Major League Soccer as assistant coach/conditioning coach for the MetroStars. From 2001-06, Osorio was an assistant manager for Manchester City F.C. of the English Premier League.
