Following a quiet opening 45 minutes, the Galaxy had some opportunities to score in the second half, especially early on. In the 47th minute, midfielder Ely Allen beat Dallas goalkeeper Ray Burse, but the goal was waved off due to offside. Tristan Bowen followed that up with a great individual effort 10 minutes later, beating a pair of defender before sending Israel Sesay in alone on goal. Sesay, however, pushed the shot wide and the game remained scoreless.
Just before the hour mark the Galaxy went close again when second-half substitute Mike Muñoz took a shot from outside the 18-yard box that Burse was able to punch clear. On the ensuing corner kick, Allen's service found Eduardo Dominguez in the center of the box, but the Argentine defender's header flashed just wide of the post.
Just minutes later, the Galaxy's missed opportunities came back to haunt them as FC Dallas went in front against the run of play. In the 62nd minute, Eric Avila played a pass through for Jaime Watson who was able to slot his shot past Galaxy goalkeeper Steve Cronin from about 10 yards out, giving his team a 1-0 advantage.
Oduro then doubled Dallas' lead in the 79th minute, getting on the end of a Spencer Wadsworth cross and finishing from the center of the box, who beat Cronin to give the game a final 2-0 scoreline.
