Calen Carr's sophomore season in MLS saw the speedster split time between the Fire Reserves and first team, making appearances in all but three regular season league matches in 2007. Through 10 starting appearances with the first team, Carr notched three goals and two assists for the "Men in Red", including a dramatic game-winning assist on Oct. 21 against Los Angeles to help Chicago advance to the 2007 MLS Cup Playoffs. Carr's crucial passing continued in the postseason, evidenced by setting up both goals in Chicago's 2-2 draw against D.C. United in Game Two of the Eastern Conference Semifinal Series to advance to the Eastern Conference Championship.
The University of California product continued to develop in the MLS Reserve Division, notching two goals and three assists in nine games played. Carr proved his abilities at the major league level as a rookie in 2006, coming off the bench for the Fire as a "super sub" in 19 games (starting three), using his speed to mark a goal and an assist across 500 minutes played. When pressed into service during the Lamar Hunt U.S. Open Cup, Carr made the most of his opportunity by tallying three goals - tied for third most by players in the 40-team competition - and adding an assist during the club's run to a fourth Open Cup title. With Carr moving up the team's forward depth chart, the swift striker is expected to step up into an expanded role in his third season.
