While his stature and nature may be diminutive, the game of Fire midfielder Ivan Guerrero speaks volumes for the Honduran international's considerable skill and grace under pressure. Guerrero became a fixture in the Chicago line-up upon joining the squad in 2005, a point he drove home in 2006 after leading the "Men in Red" with 29 games played and started, and contributed a team-best nine assists. While his skill and energy are equal to any MLS flank player, his gentlemanly approach while manning the full span of the Fire's left wing - 34 fouls committed against 89 suffered and just three yellow cards in 55 career MLS contests - has also earned him the respect of teammates and opposition alike.

The 29-year-old winger burst onto the MLS scene in 2005, when he finished near the top of the squad in games played, minutes played, games started and assists; served as Chicago's lone representative in the 2005 MLS All-Star Game; and won the Fire's 2005 Fire/Honda MVP and Fire Defender of the Year awards. All that came before he turned in one of the best individual performances in Fire playoff history, scoring a pair of goals and adding an assist in the hostile environment of RFK Stadium to help the Fire blow past D.C. United 4-0 in the decisive Game Two of their Eastern Conference Semifinal Series. A stalwart for the Honduran National Team, Guerrero is expected to add to his 75 career appearances for the "catrachos" when they take part in the 2007 CONCACAF Gold Cup this summer, which could result in Guerrero taking on some of his Fire teammates when the semifinals and final take place at Chicago's Soldier Field this June.
