Washington was drafted in the fourth round of the 2008 MLS SuperDraft and through preseason, worked his way onto the Fire's developmental roster. The Spokane Washington native used his Reserve Division minutes to elevate his game and compete for a starting position in league play. On June 15, Washington became the third rookie to start an MLS match for the Fire during the 2008 season when he started and played 60 minutes in the 1-0 loss. Washington gained experience during Chicago's 2008 Lamar Hunt U.S. Open Cup play, playing in two of three matches, as well as the team's international exhibition games, appearing in all three. During the 2009 season, Washington got more time on the pitch to solidify his place in the Fire's roster. Look for him in 2010 as he fights for a starting spot in an already strong back four.
